MAKE A FILM INSPIRED BY 100 YEARS OF BBC STORYTELLING

To mark the BBC centenary, from June to October 2022, we offered emerging filmmakers across the UK access to 150 films from BBC Archive for creative reuse in short film projects on themes including the environment, mental health, youth culture and cultural diversity. 50 emerging filmmakers created short films in response to this BBC collection, uncovering the forgotten histories of underrepresented communities.

Participants received mentoring from professional filmmakers and an opportunity to showcase their film via local public screenings and BBC platforms. They chose from the selection of films below, using excerpts of up to two minutes in their films, subject to the terms of use in our FAQ.

We ran workshops in London, Glasgow, Leeds and Belfast in August and September and will showcase the completed films at a series of screenings around the BBC centenary in October:

Strand Arts Centre, Belfast: October 22nd, 8.15pm

Bertha DocHouse, London: October 23rd, 3.30pm

CCA Glasgow: October 26th, 7.30pm

Carriageworks, Leeds: October 28th, 7pm

This project is funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council (part of UK Research and Innovation) in partnership with the BBC.
